My 2012 Hit List - Things to see in the next few months

Been a while since i last updated my blog -- and i know, most people hate the "I am coming back" blog posts that people put up, so sorry for that in advance :)

I have had some life changes in the past year - left a job, started a new one, started consulting, moved across the nation, been to several weddings, moved in with the girlfriend, ect.

Now that it has all settled down i figure it is a good time to start blogging again! Now the direction of this blog will be changing a little bit. A departure from the sharepoint side of things for a little bit and into Project Server modifications and changes and answers to questions I have had to look up or figure out myself many times over now.

In the past 6 months i jumped into a new job and hit the ground running as they were freshly deploying project server 2010, and the consulting company they brought in simply did not meet the requirements they asked for by the time they left.

I have had the pleasure of deep-diving into project server 2010 and figuring out the best solutions to all of their problems . Time to share what i have learned!

As i write up those posts on everything else i have learned, i will be starting the second phase of our project and will blog how we created our solutions  to the problems we have encountered.

Here are a few of the topics I will be covering over the next couple months as we work through Phase 2:

VS2010 custom workflow - mutating workflow, branching workflows, custom activities for auto-filling enterprise custom fields, emails, and assigning ownership and building teams and how i attacked them following tdd :) Luckily we have a C# mvp on the team now to help me where I have questions along the path!
Project Server Event receivers - for email notifications and several other nags of the system we wish to address.

My Tasks Page Customization - solely based in javascript at the moment, some modification to the my tasks page to fix problems for our users who have been struggling with multiple scroll bars (3) in the my tasks webpart , problems finding their tasks, and other nags that were ultimately all related to low-res monitors.

Project Server customization code control - how to handle customization changes and moving them between environments (views, pdp, ecf). We have a system we are following now and it is not pretty, i will be addressing what i do to fix this in the next phase of changes to our project server implementation.

Workflow Visualization webpart modification for Large Workflows.
A  distinct  change to the solution starters webpart that i made and will be releasing into the wild to improve how we visualize the status of a large workflow in project server in a webpart.

Project Server 2010 BI - What every manger wants out of project server, BI. Will be diving into performance point and blogging how i created solutions there. This is an evolution from the excel services reports we created in our first release of project server. (i'll cover some notes about that for everyone interested as well - mostly sql, pivot tables, and presentation)

TFS Server integration - tfs timesheets modification and tfs server->project server set up and modification, this will be one of the later posts most likely.

Custom integration with a Home grown ticketing system, or maybe a system that is bought, depends on the priority of this task!

Project Server 2013 Preview beta and solutions and migration issues i run into as i test it out before (possibly) moving to it late 2013.

If there are any topics above you are having problems with and want some help before i make my posts, please feel free to contact me directly and I will help you through them!
